I am so fixated on rhyming
Or finding the perfect time,
I miss the point
And start tracing lines through life
Wondering why I have wasted
So much of it
Being afraid of failure.
Then finding out far too late
How much I have missed.
Some people find success straight away,
Off they go,
blazing their trail,
Paving the way.
Most other people at least work hard,
Move on and get paid.
Then there are the lonely few
Who never knew
What path to take,
Or what sort of life to make
For themselves.
And so, they stay behind
Just to find their lofty dreams
Were too tall to reach.
Those mountains never seemed to peak,
And climbing them seemed
Much too hard an ascent.
I guess they will never know
What it all meant.
